Introducing New Storage Fees
Pipe has always offered complimentary storage as an option for the recordings made with the Pipe recorder.
However, higher storage comes with higher costs, so moving forward we will introduce new storage fees to make it sustainable and feasible.
Starting with the 1st of March 2025 you will be charged $25 (excl. VAT or sales tax) more with your monthly subscription fee when you hit 1 TB of data and $25 (excl. VAT or sales tax) for each chunk of 250 GB above 1 TB.
Here are a couple of quick examples of extra charging fees for storage:
TB stored | extra charge |
---|---|
3.5 | $275.00 |
3.2 | $250.00 |
2.4 | $150.00 |
2.1 | $125.00 |
1.8 | $100.00 |
1.6 | $75.00 |
1.4 | $50.00 |
We will continue to offer complimentary storage up to 1 TB of data.
Monitoring Your Complimentary Storage Usage
To help you better track your storage usage with us, we implemented a new dashboard section that shows you the following:
- Total amount of data stored by Pipe across all regions
- The total amount of recordings on the complimentary storage
- Amount of data stored and number of recordings for each region in particular
Reducing the Amount of Data Stored by Pipe
There are ways in which you can reduce the amount of data that you store in Pipe's complimentary storage:
- Setting up the lifecycle mechanism to delete some older recordings (Recommended).
- Pushing the recording files to your own storage. We support pushing to Amazon S3, SFTP, FTPS, or DropBox. In many cases, storing your data has many benefits, including faster access speeds if you store it in the same country where it is needed and compliance with regulatory requirements that require storing the data in certain countries/jurisdictions.
- Export the URLs to the files we host and pull them to your storage, then delete them from our storage.
