New Pipe Recorder Plugin for WordPress

We’re excited to announce the release of a new plugin for WordPress called Pipe Recorder.

The new plugin does a much better job of integrating the Pipe Recording Client and Pipe Platform with the WordPress environment than what is possible by using the embed code directly.

What the plugin can do

With this plugin, you can:

• Easily Embed Recorders: Add audio, video and screen recording capabilities to any post or page using shortcodes. You can also record directly from the WP dashboard.
• Manage Recordings Directly in WordPress: View and manage recordings made through the plugin from your WordPress dashboard.
• Generate Shortcodes for Easy Embedding of Recordings: Automatically generate shortcodes for recordings that you can drop into your site, making the integration process smooth.

If you're already familiar with WordPress, you know how powerful shortcodes are. Our plugin generates these codes for you, so embedding an audio, video or screen recorder or the recordings themselves is as simple as copy-pasting.

Major improvements

This is our 2nd attempt at making a plugin for WordPress. The 1st attempt was all the way back in 2015. This new plugin builds on that work and adds a ton of useful stuff:

1. There's a fully revamped Recordings section with detailed info about each recording, which makes managing recordings made through the plugin a lot easier
2. The plugin allows you to capture audio, video, and screen recordings
3. The new plugin deals better with audio and raw recordings
4. We've switched to using the newer 2.0 embed code, and many of the new 2.0 embed code options have been made available directly in the plugin
5. All copy/texts have been reviewed, and there's a new dedicated documentation page
6. Data communication between the Pipe Platform and the plugin has been improved: we save more data to the db from more webhooks
7. A new mechanism to delete individual recordings from the local WP db table has replaced the misleading "Sync deleted recordings" mechanism
8. The new plugin relies on the environment codes, not on environment IDs
9. etc.

Installation

The plugin can be currently downloaded from the new docs section dedicated to the plugin. The docs also contain a detailed installation guide and more information. The plugin will soon be listed in the WordPress Plugin Directory as well.
